Tilgu Yacht Club as the organizer of 2022 Zoom8 World Championship in Estonia has recieved a European Regional Development Funds’ grant „Support for international events“. The aim of the grant is to support organising international cultural or sporting events in Estonia and marketing them in foreign countries.

AIM OF THE PROJECT

The aim of the Zoom 8 World Championship project was to bring into Estonaia 80-90 foreign visitors: competitors, their accociates, trainers, international competition officials. Visitors’ experience, the cooperation between organisers and Internation Zoom8 Class Association, local and international media coverage – all these contribute to Estonia’s reputation as the destination of international sailing events in future aswell. As the location of Port of Tilgu is outside from Tallinn, the project helped to improve tourism services in rural area – local accommodation and catering services’ providers from Harku parish providers were involved.

PROJECT’S RESULT

The number of foreign visitors of Zoom8 World Championship 2022 in Tilgu was about 100-120. ACTIVITIES AND THE AMOUNT OF SUPPORT

The project comprised the announcing international sports event in foreign countries, the preparation and conductiong the competitive activities, including the opening and closing ceremonies in Tilgu Port, covering the event in local and international media. The amount of support of European Regional Development Fund was 34 315 euros.
